Concert Review by
Paul Ridenour
This concert was to be the first
time I've seen U2 and the first time my wife Dottie and I would enter Cowboys
Stadium. Well, at least that is what I thought. I bought the tickets
a very long time ago for Dottie's birthday on October 13th. Who knew that
Paul McCartney would announce he is coming to Cowboys Stadium and much earlier
than October. The sound at McCartney was great because we had floor seats.
I knew the sound would not be good at U2 because we were in the 400 section.
Again, it was for us to experience
"Jonesville" for the first time.
The opening band was terrible and I could not understand one single word.
When U2 performed, I still could not understand one single word except for the songs I knew and mainly only on the choruses.
U2 played my favorites and they put on an excellent show. Their stage set [like a huge spaceship], stage show, and lighting were fantastic. They had this huge screen that eventually broke up into a bunch of smaller screens as it stretched apart. Really neat and hard to explain. I did take a few pics with my cell phone.
Of course I wanted to hear I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Sunday Bloody Sunday, One, Where the Streets Have No Name, and With Or Without You. And I did.
Amazing Grace was amazing!
During the last encore a large lighted microphone was suspended in front of Bono and he held it as he sang, Pretty neat looking.
The Cowboys stadium has the worst sound I have ever heard and I do not plan on ever going to another concert there again. I was not impressed with the place and the food prices are outrageous. It may be a great venue for a football game, but I would not see a concert there unless I have close-up floor seats or seats in the 100 and maybe 200 sections up close. Parking is also $30 to $40.
Set List after photos.
Pics below from my cell phone

The green/blue part is one leg of a four legged
looking spaceship. The orange/yellow part are the multiple screens that
form one large screen. Here, they are stretched out into smaller screens.

One large screen
Looks like a huge spider too
