I am not a Sanders.  I am doing this for Cheryl Welch Hastings.

Peter Sanders* (or Peter Saunders) (1771 Guilford County, NC - 12/12/1851 Talbot Co., GA) married Mary Ann unknown (1793 NC - 5/2/1856 Talbot Co., GA). [Cheryl's 3rd great grandparents]. Mary is supposed to be Cherokee.
Children:

Eliza Sanders married Eli Buckner**  [Cheryl's 2nd great grandparents]
Eli served in the Georgia State Militia and won land in the Georgia Land Lottery.
    Children:

Nancy Ann Buckner married Andrew Jackson Welch (9/30/185? - Rusk Co., TX) [Cheryl's great grandparents]
        Children:

Albion Calvert Welch married Dora Jackson [Cheryl's grandparents]

    Hamblin Sanders

    James Sanders

    Julius Sanders

    Sarah Sanders

* The 1811 tax list indicates that Peter and Mary Ann Sanders were living in Jones County, Georgia.  The first available census of Georgia in 1820 shows them still living in Jones County. In 1830, Peter and Mary Ann had moved to Monroe Co., GA. In 1840 and 1850, Peter and Mary Ann were living in Talbot Co., GA.

**Eli and Eliza Buckner left Georgia for Texas in the early 1850s and settled in the Pine Hill Community of Rusk County.  Eli donated land for this family cemetery: http://www.cemeteries-of-tx.com/etx/rusk/cemetery/Bridges.htm
